St. James Church exceeding attendance expectations, Haggard says

That wasn’t the case with Ted Haggard’s St. James Church, which held its second service Sunday. The first service, which I attended, drew about 160 people. The second St. James service drew about 165, sources say. All 150 seats in the Haggards’ barn were occupied, sources say, and people were standing outside the barn door and standing by the barn loft.
“I am amazed at the positive response,” Haggard said in an e-mail. “Incredible.”
Plans are to continue to offer St. James services in the barn next to the Haggards’ home through July 4.
“The church board met after the service and discussed the value the barn was going to serve in the memories of people over the next 20 years as the church developed in the city,” Haggard said. “As a result, they decided to stay in the barn for three more weeks because the 27th is my birthday. So we’ll want to have a party here, and we want to be where we can let the kids swim and BBQ on July 4th. So it doesn’t make sense to be somewhere else for one week then come back here. So we moved our date to July 11th to be in another location.”
Haggard said a site for worship will soon be found in ”a park, the small auditorium at the Pikes Peak Center, or in one of the schools that are not currently being rented on Sunday mornings.”
Meanwhile, St. James continues to take shape, appointing on Sunday a youth pastor and a benevolence distributor, who will be in charge of distributing a portion of weekly donations to charities.
The next St. James service is 10 a.m. Sunday in the Haggards’ barn by their home at 1865 Old Ranch Road. All are welcome.

Why does the Gazette keep writing about Haggard? If this was any other preacher they wouldn’t get one single line about something like this, but because it is Ted Haggard he seems to get weekely coverage. please focus more on Christian organizations that truly contribute something to the local community — this is NOT news.
Hey thanks for keeping us informed about St James Church and Ted Haggard. Its good to hear about how God is continuing to use him despite his imperfections.

Ted Haggard is a man who has seen the Grace of God first hand and is now reaching out to others to help them in their journey towards Christ. He teaches the love of Christ and exemplifies it in his life. Praise God for the coverage, or any coverage that might bring someone closer to Jesus. “Christian Organizations”, funny, the Bible left those out as well, and chose also to focus on people (like the woman at the well). Real people, real issues, a real solution, Jesus. So praise God for this coverage, may He use it to bring others to himself.

Go Ted and Gayle! Is it really any surprise that St. James is exceeding expectations?. . . Everything Ted and Gayle did at New Life was always top noche. .It was because of Ted and Gayle that Mr. Brady Boyd inherited such a significantly large congregation.
I expect this church will probably explode. Wouldn’t be surprising in the least.
Ted Haggard is a man who knows no fear.
My hat’s off to him. He could have tucked tail and ran. It’s good to see he stayed to resurrect himself in Colorado Springs. I hope their church is successful if only because the institutional church bureacracy can sit up, take note. . . and maybe learn a thing or 2.

It’s great to see 2 people who have been broken to minister to other people who are broken. That’s St. James. People who actually know and care about what is going on in peoples lives. No labels. No judgement. Just love. It’s like going to a meeting with a bunch of Jesus replicas. . . LOL!

I live in TX but LOVE what God is doing in Teds life. I pray for believers like Kristen who have not experienced God’s grace and love. (Guess we need to throw out 2/3 of the New Testament since it was written by a Christian killer??)

I am so happy for Ted and his family. I think it is important to know that God can forgive you for anything and still use you to help other people. I wish I lived close enough I could visit their church.

I want all readers of this site to know that the largest majority of Christians believe this is HORRIBLE news. Ted Haggard does deserve to be forgiven, but it is a disgrace to see him lead this false “church”, He should spend the rest of his life following other leaders, but not leading anyone! And these people who are following him are only disgracing themselves. They are the biggest jokes now in the Christian community. And a true embarrassment STILL in our community.

Had Ted and His Wife released a new flash telling New Life, they were wrong for bashing New Life on the far left TV Show and His Book? Have they stated why they are working with a far left group for His image?
Bobdavies the reason Ted can get away with this is because he made sure he is not part of any Christian Group. So he does not have to report to someone.
If he was involved with a Christian Group other then a far left group. He would have had his license revoked and would have been barded from starting a Church. But likeI said it must be nices not to have to report to someone higher.

Wow, fantastic revealing statements here. I am not asking if you ever met the people you are criticizing here! And even more important, what did God tell you about the situation? If we worship the same God, you wouldn`t write this. So it is better to be following a religious group? Is the spirit of God telling you they should only follow them? or report to a Christian group? I doubt that even really asked God without already having decided about right and wrong.
Atacks, sad picture about Christianity. But good to know what`s out there. The world understands, the “Christians” have a hard time. I went to the first service of Teds and It was so breath freshing to know I wasnt judged by anyone. and I didnt have to spend hours looking for something to wear I went as I am tattoos and all and I was welcomed by all. Another cult has started. You can tell by the defensive, “us versus them”, type of comments here – open your eyes people. Ted is a great cult leader. He is very charismatic and will fool a lot of people. It’s sad because people really are looking for something to believe in. I really hope the Gazette will realize that they are contributing to this cult with all the publicity.

Love, forgiveness, respect and reconciliation are the aromas of the Gospel. I have no stones to throw and enjoyed the experience of worshipping there @ St. James on Sunday.
Now some are going to say how dare you judge Ted and His Wife, they are of God leave them alone. Well Here is my answer.
Galatians 6:1-5 (New International Version)
1 Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. 2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 3 If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4 Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, 5 for each one should carry his own load.
Ted and Wife after being removed from New Life, surrender under the authorized of a group of people. This group was going to be the ones who decided when Ted and His Wife was to return to fully time ministry, if they could. Ted and His Wife agreed to do what this group ask them to do. Ted and His wife also agreed not to have any contact with people from New Life. In exchange New Life was to pay them a years salary.
1. Shortly after Ted and His Wife left, it was reported that Ted and His Wife hired a group, to help raise money for their living expense. An this group emailed people from New Life on Ted and his wife behalf. Later on Ted and His Wife decided to leave the group, that was in charge of them without permission. They decide to proclaim to the World they are restored. An moved back here to Colorado Springs. Now this passage above talks about “you who are spiritual should restore him gently” is clear to Ted and His Wife, that the people who are working with them, Were going to be used by God to restore them. Ted and His Wife rejected, these peoples authorized over them, an I have a major issue with this. As do many Christian.
2. Ted and His Wife decide when it was time to return to Ministry, then did not go to Christian Groups at first. They went to H. B. O. to have them produce a show about Ted’s fall from grace. Why? H. B. O. Program is very anti-Christian. When promoting the show, Ted did not go to the Christian Groups like Focus on the Family, The 700 Club to promote it. Instead Ted ran as fast as he could to the non-Christian shows. Which many times attack the Christian Churches. Why did he do this? Why did he chose H. B. O. to air his program? Why did he run to these non-Christian Shows to promote the show? His actions did not go unnoticed by the Christian Community.
3. His Wife, decided to write a book. In her book she openly attack New Life and the Leadership. Why? Because New Life barded them from coming back to the Church to work. She was clear, that New Life, was their church, they started it and how dare they stop them from coming back. How dare they not permitted Them from attending the Church, while they got help. Like her husband, in promoting her book, she did not go the Christian Shows. She ran as fast as she could to the non-Christian shows. Which many times attack the Christian Churches. Why did she run to these non-Christian Shows to promote her book? Her actions did not go unnoticed by the Christian Community.
4. When Ted and His Wife decide to start up the show again. Ted and His Wife did not do what most Minster do. No, Ted and his wife hired a non-Christian firm to promote Ted and His Wife. They did not go to the Christian Stations and Christian Programs to talk about starting up their new church. They ran as fast as they can to the Media, to promote Ted the show, not God. Their actions did not go unnoticed by the Christian Community.
Now the sad part is, many will follow Ted the man. Because he knows the words to say, the music to play to meet their emotional needs. These people will come from New Life because they are more loyal to Ted the man and not God. They have chosen to follow the Ted the man and what he is doing then follow God. This is nothing new. It is always a danger when having a long term pastor. These people become more loyal to a man, then to God or a Church.
Other will come to watch an see Ted the show, an will be very happy with Ted the show. Because he knows the words to say, the music to play to meet their emotional needs.
The sad part is as I show in the 4 points about, Ted and His Wife seem not to have follow the direction, that they promised before God they were going to follow, when stepping down from New Life. Their actions did not go unnoticed by the Christian Community. This is why, many Christian’s, are question and speaking out against what Ted and His Wife are doing. It is not that we do not want to see them return God and service God. It is because they have not follow through in their agreement. They need to step down, an go back to the people who were in charge of spiritual restoring them. They need to listen to them, an put aside their egos, and surrender to God and humbly service under a Pastor and this men and women that was to help in spiritual restoring them, before jumping back into role of Pastor.

I honestly pray that you will live and let live, there is plenty of hurting people that Ted’s ministry will not interfere in your ministry, I highly doubt they will even attrack the same kind of people. So, relax Pastor Roy, you need not be so defensive. God has work for each of us to do, there is plenty to go around.
what I find very interesting is how those who are defending Ted, get mad because many in the Christina Community are questioning what he is doing. As say we are unforgiving and bring hate, but those same people have no problem casting judgment on us, who are questioning what he is doing. I do not mind being people question who I am and why I believe what I believe.

Could it be because the Church is right and Ted knows it.
I think Ted should team up with Thomas Kinkade, the hilarious Christian painter who separates the flock from their money, and who has recently been arrested for drunken driving. They can co-brand a series of paintings on the theme of not being gay, not being an alcoholic, and not being a gay alcoholic.

Your statement makes it sound like Ted reject the Christian media or community because he knew what their responds would be. So he embrace those groups that dislike the Christian. If that is the message he is sending. then it is worst then I and many other believe.
Ted has a problem with God’s Church, the only reason he can do what he is doing is because he is not under nor held accountable by Church Leadership.
I will clear if he was involved with a main line church. He would not be able to do what he is doing. He would have had his license pulled. An would have been clear told what he must do to get the license back.

@ Pastor Roy:. . Alot of your questions and statements could be answered on Tedhaggard.com. . . the problem with using media to inform your opinion and not primary sources is that often the “facts” are far from it.

Ted is forgiven, he can and has experienced the amazing grace of God, this isn’t about that..it is about showing some restraint and sensitivity to those of us who are deeply troubled by not only what he did, but by what he is doing now.

Please Sir, be careful what you are writing. As I wrote before, you don´t know a thing about them and the things that took place. Please, assuming and guessing shouldn`t be the way for us as christians. Right?
Who told you they left the group? (authorized group to help them get restored) I am just taking this one little part out of your writings. I am so sad that people (sadly you as another pastor) are not taking the effort to really find out what happened.
Sorry Pastor, this Galatians 6;1-5 also counts for you and this is my step. I agree backfiring isn`t the way either. You are right about that.

Ted and His Wife are still hurting because the New Life, the group they went to and Christian has said that They still needs more help. An they are rejecting it.

Lisa I do not share that information because a few years ago we had someone posting here decide to call around to different Churches trying to cause trouble for the Christian who were posting here.
I also had someone try to reveal where I live. So I am sorry pass lesson has taught me to be very careful with the information I hand out.
I can tell you it is one of the oldest Pentecostal Churches in the Nation. I do have a 4 year degree in Pastoral Ministry and Bible and Theology.
The Gazette will keep reporting on Mr. Haggard because there is interest in what happens with Ted Haggard both locally and nationally. It’s that simple. He continues to be a fascinating story to follow and an interesting case of Religious teachings about Homosexuality, someone who believes in those teachings who also happens to be at least bi-sexual himself. He’s the real Colorado Springs Reality Show in real life. Most interesting.
Pastor Roy…you can throw all the Scriptures out that you want to…not important. 1 Timothy 3: 1-7 is all that need be spoken. I won’t type it here…you can all read it for yourselves. As far as your 4 year degree…God does not honor degrees…He honors a man…a man of pure heart. He does not look at the outside of a man but on the inside…the heart! Only God knows what is in Ted’s heart…your heart…my heart…or for anyone of you for that matter. Your doctrine seems to support the doctrine of disqualification. IT is sad you think you can do anything to make God love you more! Peace and Shalom

It is my belief he gave up that right when he fell into sin. Yes he does read out of the same Bible as we do…and yes…maybe he does read all of it…what is your gig? Ted, Years ago I was visiting Colorado Springs and I attended your 50th birthday service. I was true appalled that the service focused on you and not God’s awesome presence. I see that you are still focusing on your birthday. Please think about this. A church service should be held to renew the congregation by focusing on the presence of God’s Spirit (not celebrating one frail man’s birth.) God is loving, kind, forgiving. The focus should be on how to live, so we exemplify His Goodness. This is something each one of needs to learn.
No matter where you go to church always follow GOD.GOD will not fail you.Even though some have the gift of speech be careful not to rely on man.

I have personally know the Haggards for many years and had attended New Life from it’s beginning days in the basement of their home until I moved from Colo in 1999. I also was shocked when I heard the news that November day in 2006, but unlike the majority of “Christians” on here, my heart sank for them. Myself and like ALL living breathing humans that I know, are NOT free from sin, have never successfully walked on water, fed masses of people with little nor been willing to HANG ON THE CROSS! I commend Ted for his courage to face the belittlement of the masses that continue to sin yet are so willing to cast the net of judgement to make themselves feel better. Peace be to all and God Bless!
