Since when is showing someone comfort and compassion a no no? Apparently, when those feelings are directed toward Ted Haggard.
The office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued a statement on Friday, Jan. 16, denying that Pelosi has showed compassion toward disgraced New Life founder Haggard.
In an interview with U.S News & World Report, Haggard said that he and Pelosi – the mother of Alexandra Pelosi, director of the HBO special “The Trials of Ted Haggard” — had conversations in which she comforted Haggard during the months he lived in Arizona and Texas after being exiled from Colorado Springs by New Life.
In the statement, Pelosi’s office said, “The Speaker and Ted Haggard never met and they never spoke. The Speaker has never talked to her daughter, Alexandra, about Mr. Haggard. This account is simply not true.”
